Alison and Stavros Androulakakis welcome you at the hotel.
The
hotel
is in two buildings:
Hotel Porto Loutro I - on the beach in the centre of Loutro's sparkling bay.
Hotel Porto Loutro II - overlooking the village, a few steps above the bay.
Both have a terrace bar/cafe serving breakfast, drinks, ice creams, light
snacks and home-made cakes. The atmosphere guests find here is to be at home & relaxed. And if it takes a day or so to unwind from life's complexity, you
are bound to be entertained by Alison's unique perspectives on people and life in Loutro.
To protect your peace and quiet, no mobile phones are allowed in the hotel bars.
From the balcony of your room, you can idle away time gazing at the village and the sea, locating the goats on the mountainside - or are those walkers scaling the narrow paths?
Bedrooms are designed to be airy & light. The decor is purity and quality itself, at still-modest prices.
All rooms have air conditioning, providing cooling
for the hot summer months and heating for the cooler early spring and
late autumn months.
You have
your own balcony and sea view (there are also three rooms at Porto Loutro I with a tree or side view, shadier and even quieter). This is a sea view with a difference, the bay, the
mountains, the islet that edges one side of the bay and the distant glimmer of Sfakia and Frangokastello at night.
Your room has quarried slate or marble floors, beamed ceilings - a cool, smart & uncomplicated style. The bathrooms are marble. Your home, for a while!
In 1945 local families left Loutro. Some of their children returned during 1975 - 1978.
Work on building the hotel was started in 1987. It opened in 1989 with 18 rooms. Built in what were the gardens next to Stavros' family house, an original Venetian
building, at the centre of the beach.
Some rooms and studios have been added since and in 1992 the Hotel Porto Loutro II opened on the hillside to the west,
looking across the bay and village. Re-painted every year and maintained to high standards, Hotel Porto Loutro looks new every time you
visit.
Alison and Stavros Adroulakakis, own and
manage the hotel. A staff who have
been chosen to work at the hotel, contribute to the relaxed and friendly atmosphere, enjoyed by their guests from all over the world.
"Thank you for the hospitality and for
giving us the wonderful room, with sea view! It's a little quiet paradise in this busy world. We will come back
very soon..."
"Porto Loutro! Light of our lives.
Ignition of our love, sweetness of our souls - enough already - we love it here. Alison is a superb &
brilliant hostess. God love her always & keep this place for our return!"
"We came for a crash-out holiday and a bit of ambling, but didn't bargain for the mad woman of Loutro,
the vertical mountains that left us gasping our last... Thank you all for a great time in a superb part of
Crete." *
